Electrical Permit Application and Fees

Description: Employees in this job perform electrical inspection activities by use of mechanical testing of equipment to ensure compliance with established sate and federal codes and laws.

Duties:
1. Inspect, with visual observation and electrical testing equipment, new installations and alterations of electrical wiring nad equipment in and on public and private buildings and premises.
2. Check, visually and mechanically, such items as circuit loads, sizes of conductors and raceways, connections na taping, over current protection and the use of approved service-related devices, fixtures, an equipment.
3. Review proposed construction plans and documents to determine compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and codes.
4. Subsequent to gathering evidence on reported or observed code violations written notices of such violations shall be issued and appropriate corrective action taken.
5. Inspect approved plans, specifications an permits issued for proposed work projects.
6. Explain, verbally and in writing, the electrical codes, laws, and regulations to architects, engineers, property owners, contractors, electricians, governmental officials and the public.
7. Testify at administrative hearings and in court regarding violations of electrical codes, laws, or regulation. 
8. Attend meetings of inspectors, contractors, electricians, and other interested groups to discuss State Electrical Code requirements and the State Electrical Act.
9. Prepare and/or maintain reports, files, and written correspondence and submit to appropriate party upon request.
10. Perform related work as assigned.
